Randomly Found SXSW Sound
Perhaps you've heard about this music festival that happens every March in Austin, TX. It's a big deal, I guess. Something like 40,000 acts, many of which won the battle of the bands in whatever musical backwater it is that they hail from and thus, a free trip to Texas. The odd thing is, some of them are actually good. This is our quest for those bands.
The Whigs (Athens, GA): "Violet Furs" (MP3)
Aberdeen City (Boston, MA): "Another Seven Years" (MP3)
The Amazing Pilots (Dublin, IRE): "All My Wasted Days" (MP3)
Jim Noir (London, UK): "My Patch" (MP3)
Paris Motel (London, UK): "I Lost My Heart/ Phillipe, Phillipe" (MP3)
The Sundresses (Cincinnati, OH): "The Love Song" (MP3)
The Femurs (Seattle, WA): "Plastic Swords for Politics" (MP3)
(Note: No "Battle of the Bands" credentials or musical backwater statuses should be assumed.)

Yes, The Whigs are indeed good. Heh.
Funny to see them on that list since they're well known here in ATL/ATH, but I realize they're probably unknown in the rest of the country. We have several good local/regional bands headed out there. Woohoo.
Did anyone catch a whigs show in Austin? Curious how it went...
the amazing pilots aren't from dublin, they're from northern ireland (for what it's worth!)
going to see them tonight supporting the fantastic duke special in belfast :)
