In House #1584: New Scott Miller; Steam Powered Airplane in Pocatello

Citation is the third full-length from Scott Miller and his band the Commonwealth, out last week on Sugar Hill records. Miller's sound has always been favorably comparable to the likes of Dylan, as well as the rootsier sides of Petty and Springsteen. The new album ups the ante on the storytelling, with songs like "Freedom Is a Stranger," and "Jody," playing out like short stories. Also interesting is a cover of Neil Young's "Hawks & Doves," the political content of which is right at home in the mix. The album was recorded in Memphis, produced by Jim Dicksinson.
